Through its members and volunteers, the friends:

  • Give significant financial support to library programs and services for the public.

  • Annually sponsor three large Used Book Sales at the library.

  • Are invited to Friday night Friends Only book sale previews.

  • Have the opportunity to share an enthusiasm for books and concern for the library's welfare.

Re-tale Market

There is an ongoing used book sale on the main floor of the library in the Orchard Room.
Books on Wheels is currently taking the place of Re-Tale Market until the flood restoration is completed.

Used Book Donations
Proceeds from the sales support Library projects and programs.

However, due to the flood, the Friends and Library are NOT taking regular donations at this time. The Library is collecting Teen Material donations to help Windover Highschool in their effort to restore their Library after most of it was lost in the flood.

Friends volunteer opportunities include:

  • Book sale volunteers

  • Book donation sorting

  • Board membership

If interested in volunteering please indicate on membership form or contact us.

Friends of the Library donations are invaluable to the Library. Friends donations allow the Library to continue providing amazing services while also providing a financial safety net for innovating new ideas. When the Library staff plan new programs, we know that the Friends of the Library are available should we develop a new service in which there are no funds. Having the Friends of the Library at Grace A. Dow Memorial Library allows staff to think of new programs in a way many Libraries around the state are unable to do so. - Miriam Andrus, Director of the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library
