Note: The new drive-thru bookdrop will be unavailable periodically when the Library is closed for a long weekend (usually during the Christmas and Easter Holidays). During extended closurers the bookdrop outside of the Library auditorium doors will be open for patrons to drop off materials.

Why make pickup/drop offs have to go to the traffic side of the car?
We ask that patrons don't use the parking lot in front of the main doors to drop off or pick up passengers unless you are driving a bus dropping off a single passenger. There are two 5 five minute parking spots near the auditorium doors, next to the ADA accessible parking spots; these can be used to pull in and drop off or pick up passengers. This is not only safer for patrons but also doesn't back up traffic.
Why create a left turn in front of incoming traffic?
Although we know that stopping and waiting for traffic to enter the lot before exiting isn't ideal, it was the only way we could reconfigure the parking lot to allow for the book drops to be on the same side of the building (safer for library staff emptying the drops) while allowing patrons to drop off books on the driver's side of their vehicle.
Why are the parking spaces so small?
The parking lines are the same in other lots around Midland and are in line with the parking ordinance.
If I'm a bus driver, where do I drop off passangers?
Buses dropping off single passengers should pull into the middle of the drive directly in front of the main doors blocking both drives (lanes). Doing this is meant to keep other vehicles from being able to pass and lets passengers exit and walk in while crossing in front of the bus while staying clear of other vehicles. If you are a bus driver dropping off multiple patrons, please park near the west portico (orange bridge side of the parking lot) and let patrons off.
Why can't I drive onto the concrete to drop my books off in the drive-thru book drop?
You can! We know that driving onto the concrete in the past was not allowed but now we expect patrons to drive onto the concrete and drop books directly into the drive-thru drop boxes.
Why isn't the drive-thru book drop moved to the edge of the concrete so I can drop books off from my car?
The drive-thru book drop is strategically placed so library staff can retrieve the materials from the drop, sheltered by the east portico overhang, to protect materials from the elements. Patrons can drive on the concrete to return their materials into the drop box from the comfort of their car.
