The mission of the Friends of the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library is to support, strengthen and enlarge the scope of the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library's services and facilities for the enrichment of the entire community

*The sale will still be held in the Library Auditorium & Mezzanine despite construction. All other areas of the Library will remain closed.*

Service

Through its members and volunteers, the FRIENDS:

  • Give significant financial support to library programs and services for the public.

  • Annually sponsor two large Used Book Sales in April and October at the library.

  • Are invited to Friday night Friends Only book sale previews.

  • Have the opportunity to share an enthusiasm for books and concern for the library's welfare.

There is an ongoing used book sale on the main floor of the Library..

Used Book Donations
Proceeds from the sales support Library projects and programs. 

Donation​s will continue during the Fall 2025 library renovations pending access is available to the staff parking lot.

Projects, programs, and equipment we help support

The Friends of the Library provide funding for the following:
 

  •     Summer Reading programs 

  •     Battle of the Books

  •     Grade school tours

  •     Community literacy initiatives

  •     Outside flood recovery/prevention, landscaping

  •     Auditorium projection system upgrades

  •     Streetside electronic sign

  •     Children's inside imaginative play sets

  •     Quiet tutoring spaces

  •     Laptops for computer classes

  •     Genealogy room technology

  •     MidLab makerspace equipment

  •     Adult writing and classic books projects

  •     Flagpole lighting

 

  • Please bring all materials to the Library's garage located in the staff parking lot off Eastman Ave. There is a gray bin located near the garage where donations can be placed. (Please do not put bags or boxes in the bin.) 

    If you need assistance with a large donation when the Library is open, please call 989-837-3457 for help.
